images with narrative

Narrative is central to Jo Priceís work, much of which is inspired by the written word.  Stories often reveal to us what it is to be human, and through them, we discover how our own narratives weave together with those of others.

Characters from the writings of Dickens, Melville and Shakespeare have appeared in the images and latterly, those from her own writings The Red Scar and The Undertakerís Nuptials. Whilst frozen in a moment within the print, they, like their stories, continue outside the images, and seek to linger in the mind of the viewer.

Jo Price is an artist printmaker and educator based in Southampton, UK. Having studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and University of South Wales she now specialises in intaglio techniques such as etching, card cuts, and drypoint. She is a member of Red Hot Press Open Access Print Workshop and founder-member and Chair of Cowprint, the workshop’s artists’ group. She has exhibited internationally and her work is held in collections in Europe, North America and China. She is available for commissions.
